Arrive. Jiggle the key in the lock to find the sweet spot so you can unlock the door. Step inside, to be greeted by stale air that’s been cooped up all day. Sigh. Close the door and lock it. Put your keys down on the table so you can find them in the morning rush. Kick off your shoes. Wiggle your toes against the floor. Rub at the muscles in your neck, more out of habit than as a way to get rid of tension. You have to look at the mail. You have to find something to eat. But first, reach for the light. Turn on the light. You’re home.
