There is evidence that too little vitamin C in the body can lead to dry hair, split ends, gingivitis, scaly skin, poor-healing wounds, easy bruising, nosebleeds, high blood pressure, gallbladder disease, stroke, atherosclerosis, and a general decrease in the immune system’s ability to fight off infection.

There is some evidence that a diet rich in vitamin C, on the other hand, may help to lower your risk of developing high blood pressure, the common cold, sunburns, osteoarthritis, age-related vision loss, asthma, pre-eclampsia, and some cancers.
