You can re-arrange the flowers. You can shift them around, trim some back, remove a few as they fade, add new ones. You replace the water, you can replace the vase—take all the flowers out and put them in a completely different container. You can throw away the flowers and pick new ones.
Flowers are forgiving. They never remember the things you said in anger. The comment you claimed was supposed to be funny, but was really only cruel. The excuses, and the apologies for the excuses, and the excuses again.
Flowers give you a second chance. Even if you don’t deserve it.
