Foglandia

Fog is contradiction. It’s romantic and at the same time, spooky. It’s both seductive and mysterious and cold and intimidating. Those of us who love the fog willingly give ourselves in to it. We accept it—not despite its inconsistencies but because of them. Ambiguity is much of the appeal.

Fog makes no definite statement, no bold assertion. Fog suggests. It’s all insinuation and whispers, it’s rumor and innuendo. Fog doesn’t lie; it doesn’t need to—but it misleads. We know it misleads, we expect nothing else. Fog can NOT be trusted to be anything but indefinite.

Perhaps we love fog because it offers revelations. Perhaps we love it because it presents us with the possibility that something somewhere might somehow become clear.
