No Escape – I

“Art,” said Cicero, “is born of the observation and investigation of nature.” “Art,” said Frank Zappa, “is making something out of nothing and selling it.” Said Picasso, “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” And Rodin, thinking about thinking, said: “Art is contemplation. It is the pleasure of the mind which searches into nature and which there divines the spirit of which Nature herself is animated.”

Okay. Yes. I won’t disagree. But sometimes art is also emptying the pool, jumping in to rescue water bugs that accumulated algae has been gluing to the bottom of the pit, and discovering a completely new medium.
