the four poster bed trick

Oh man, there are like eighteen thousand kinds of beautiful in the world—seriously, eighteen thousand, give or take—and here we see half a dozen of the best.

There’s the Beauty of the Four-Poster—a style of bed that’s five hundred years old and turns the simple act of sleeping into Renaissance event. Who doesn’t want to spend a night in a four-poster? And there’s the Beauty of the Hotel Room—a space that’s not your own where you can choose whether or not to be yourself and where others are charged with the gratifying task of making you happy. A good hotel room is as welcome as a warm towel after a cool bath. Oh, and there’s the Beauty of the Hasselblad—a simple and solid lightproof box made with such exquisite precision that it might continue to shoot perfect photographs for the lifetime of a four-poster bed. It’s like God’s own camera.

And hey, there’s the Beauty of the Plan Gone Wrong—which you’d think isn’t beautiful at all, but it’s only when things get all sideways that you realize how well suited you are for each other. That leads us to the Beauty of Being Weary but Happy—because c’mon, there’s no more contented feeling in the whole wide wicked world. It all comes down to the Beauty of Two People in Love—and I don’t think that needs any explaining, do you?

Eighteen thousand kinds of beautiful in the world, and there’s probably a few more tucked in the edges here, but let’s not be greedy. Well, maybe one more. There’s the Beauty of Sharing—they shared this with us, and we’re sharing it with you. Don’t even try to tell me you’re not smiling now, because I know you are.
