Split Personalities

“People watch a screening in the dark, the only light is what is reflected from the screen.”
—Norm Soley, Photographer

You think you’re in darkness, but you’re not. Someone is assembling enough light to see you by: if not now, then later. The comfortable shroud you feel around you, he will throw off. You think you’re the watcher, but really you’re the watched. Someone is collecting your every blink. The attention you pay is not squandered; it will slip into his pocket and become his currency.

You think you are still, but really you are vibrating. You think you’re a person, but really you’re particles. Over time you will split, and where will you be then? Look for him; in this moment he is gathering up your pieces. He is a hoarder. Look for him in the dark.
