I am ignored. Overlooked. Just another pigeon in a city full of pigeons. I am, in effect, invisible.

My plan is working.

Beneath this modest Columbiforme exterior beats the heart of a warrior. I am the Dove of Retribution, Scourge of the City, the Lash of Avian Liberation. Too long have my kind been subjected to unthinking cruelty, too many nestlings have I seen abused, too many squabs have been taken before their time. No more. No longer can I tolerate this state of affairs; no longer will I tolerate it. I have begun the struggle to make the world safe for pigeon and dove of every stripe. Humankind, look to the skies—the Hour of Reckoning is nearly upon you. You will feel the sting of my white, runny vengeance!

For now I wait. I wait…and I watch. I rest and feed, and prepare for my next strike. That pigeon you see on the telephone wire—that is me. The dove scratching the ground in the park—that is me. Every shadow that passes overhead—that is me. Look to the skies, Humankind. Look, and know that I am looking back.
