It'sGreg

that autumn when you walked everywhere like you were wearing a borrowed dress

It was one of those days that’s so perfect it seems impossible. Warm, like it couldn’t ever be anything else, sun and sky so clear. One of those days when you might want a sweater later, but you’d just as soon fold your arms across your chest and rub them a little and that would be just as good. Coming out of summer into an autumn like that, it’s easy enough to think that you can take days like that for granted, that they’ll just keep going. But even though it was so perfect it seemed impossible, even though I forgot that things can change so quickly, you knew all along. And it’s funny now how I thought you were talking about the weather on that day when it was so perfect and the sky was so clear, so clear. It’s funny now, the way I smiled back at you when you smiled. It’s funny now, the way you said “Baby,” and tilted your head back and looked at that cloudless sky, “it’s gonna snow.”
