tough day at the office
Guy walks into a bar….
A good bartender has to be patient. Has to have a good attitude and be a good listener. People talk a lot in a bar; they need somebody to be listening.
Guy walks into a bar, says “Gimme a beer before the trouble starts.” Bartender gives him a beer.
A good bartender doesn’t have to be smart, or wise, or kind, or even honest. He needs to know how to mix a few basic drinks and pour a draft beer so the head is just right. That’s all. That and know how to listen. Like the guy says, nobody brings anything small into a bar.
Guy says “Gimme another beer before the trouble starts.” Bartender pours him another beer. They do this like four or five times. “Give me a beer before the trouble starts,” the guy says and the bartender, he pours another beer.
Thing is, there’s always trouble in a bar. Always. You maybe can’t see it, but it’s there. A good bartender knows that. He’ll listen, pour you a beer, laugh at your jokes, listen to your lame-ass stories. Ease the trouble right outa you. Price of a beer, you got a friend for as long as it takes you to drink it.
“Gimme a beer before the trouble starts.” Bartender pours him a beer, asks “What trouble?” Guy shakes his head, says “One more beer before the trouble starts.” Bartender says, “If there’s gonna be trouble, maybe you should pay for these beers first.” Guy says “Ah, now’s when the trouble starts.”
Every bar in every city on every continent in the whole wide spinning world, there’s a guy walking into it. And a bartender waiting for him.
