The Myth of Egrets

That they bring missives from the gods. That they are gods, in birdly guise. That they transport the souls of warriors lost to death. That they are lucky, or unlucky; that there is no difference there. No one, now, can quite remember what it is the egrets mean—and so we watch, and we take note, and write the myth again.
