Oh, you poor buggers south of the Equator. You’re heading into Fall before tumbling headlong into another Winter. And us? We’re tripping light-footed into Spring. We’re frolicking and gamboling, we’re positively cavorting into Spring. Frisking, is what we’re doing. Leaping like leverets. Capering—that’s it, we’re capering and prancing and skipping and—did I already say frolicking? Yes? Well, I’ll say it again, because it deserves to be said more than once. WE ARE FROLICKING (and I’ll add an exclamation point)!
Am I being silly? Hell, yes. It’s Spring—we’re supposed to be silly. At some point in the last couple of weeks—at some liminal, barely perceptible moment—we shed the shackles of winter. We have, as it’s said, slipped the surly bonds of Earth. Dude, we totally slipped them.
Oh, it won’t last. We know that. It never does. But that’s all the more reason to go all frolic-silly now, isn’t it. Isn’t it? Why yes, I believe it surely is. And if you’re a sensible person, you’ll agree with me. Actually, if you’re a sensible person, go stand someplace else. This sidewalk is reserved for frolickers.
