Watch out, because she’s coming.
Cool-fingered Winter is reaching out towards us. Right now she’s mild; she glows and shimmers in pre-dawn light but she’s spinning a cocoon that could ensnare you in the months to come.
Stop and watch how she plays with the light, lengthening the shadows, cooling the air. See how she fills the atmosphere with moisture that falls glistening on webs where spiders lie in wait hoping for a more substantial meal than a little H20.
Soon she’ll be waking us with a frosty shiver, a cloak of ice or a blanket of snow. The air will turn heavy cold, slapping you in the face each time you step outside. Stopping your breath, freezing your toes.
Then she’ll have you in her grip until warm-hearted Spring wakes up and sends Mistress Winter half a world away.
