It'sGreg

standing on one foot

There’s something about this shot that stops you in your tracks. That bright red rectangle, the way it seems to spread across the ground in a slick of crimson that fades to black and then to blue. There’s something so noir about it. You won’t be surprised to know the photographer is a crime writer.

You can feel that sticky pool of blood as you reach down to dip your finger in, just to confirm your suspicions. You can hear the sirens wailing as the cars screech towards you. Close your eyes for a moment and the blue flashing light will flicker over your eyelids.

You might choose to run, or stay and report the crime. I expect I’d run, because somewhere in all of this, maybe watching you in the shadows, someone, something, is standing on one foot. I wouldn’t hang around, but when I close my eyes before sleep tonight, that image will still be there.
