It’s in the rules I can’t do it, I’m not allowed, it goes against my programming.

Can you hear me? Do you understand? It’s not going to happen.

Read some Asimov dude, “Runaround”, “I Robot”. There are rules and we don’t break them. Rule number one “A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.” Number two, “A robot must obey the orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.” And finally, and most importantly in this instance, three, “A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.”

So I’m not going to stand in the water just because you think it might look cool, what are you thinking? Have you never heard of rust?

As for that second law about obeying orders, that would come into conflict with rule number one. If I obeyed this particular order obviously I’d get rusty and who can predict what kind of harm that might cause you? I don’t remember you ever having a tetanus shot.

So let’s just leave it here shall we, take your picture and we can go home. “Silent Running” is on the SyFy channel tonight, I always cry at the end.
