Another Hotel Night

Once a guy stood all day at a hotel window. The Hotel was in the Hollywood Heights, and as darkness fell the thought occurred to him that he was maybe not the first  guy to have done this.

Eight hours of standing hurt far more than he’d  expected it to. From time to time he’d slump his shoulder to rest against the wall. At around 5pm he’d leaned forward and let his brow rest against the window. Was he going bald? How bald was he? The hurt was worst in his heels, they burned, and his left knee felt as if someone had rammed a deck nail through it.

There was a gloopy slurping sound when he lifted forehead from glass however many hours later.

He wondered what Doctor Hana Borlotti would say. The lovely doctor had told him not to spend so much time on the phone or computer. He’d had his back to both of them since his noon check in. He had ignored them, he had ignored his need to eat and to piss. Instead he had spent a day at the window, slowly watching daylight fade.
