<p>In the 19th century an intrepid photographer had the bright idea of mixing up a bunch of chemicals in a test tube and pouring them over a lacquered metal plate. Then using this lump of metal to create a photograph.</p>
<p>In the 21st century another intrepid photographer set about recreating the process, sourcing chemicals and test tubes, measuring and mixing. And using a space where not one ray of light would penetrate, pouring a mixture of silver suspended in something called collodion, putting the prepared plate into his camera and finally taking his first shot.</p>
<p>And here is the result &#8211; a blend of old and new,  shot using silver on metal, and shared by a smartphone, a bunch of pixels and something called the internet.</p>
