the way monday morning should be
jspad

Sometimes it’s all too apparent that we’re clinging to the surface of a dirt-covered ball of rock hurtling through space at Mach 86, circling an ever-exploding ball of fire. Life can seem so frenetic and unbalanced and dizzy-making that all we can do is seize hold of something or someone and hope we can be anchored temporarily to the planet. And when exhaustion grants us a few ragged hours of sleep, the sun sends acid-based beams of light racing through ninety-three million miles of nothingness in eight minutes with the sole, malicious intent of disrupting our rest.

BUT…

But then there are times when it all slows down. The light that comes through our Monday morning curtains has been hanging around outside, quietly, cheerfully, waiting for us to wake up. When we open our eyes, the sunlight insinuates itself into the room, soft as puppy fur, comforting as buttered toast. The light reassures us, settles us, reminds us that so long as we continue to breathe in – breathe out each moment of the day is as long or short as it needs to be. So if we burrow a wee bit deeper into the pillows on those mornings, the light will forgive us and wait patiently until we’re ready to rise and take up the demands of another day.
