Five minutes ago she was just a babby, just out of her nappies, leaving peanut butter handprints on the wall, and refusing to go to bed unless she could wear a hat. And five minutes from now she’ll be wanting to wear eyeliner and then she’ll be dating some sneering punk with a motorcycle who is almost certainly on his way to prison.

But right now…right now she is perfect. Right now, at this very moment, she is without fault or flaw, and if only there was some way to stop time or even just slow it down a tad so that….

But no. She hasn’t yet tasted an apricot or been in a boat or had her first kiss or seen the perfection of a child of her own and wished she could stop time or even just slow it down a tad.
