Getting Closer
Maureen Bond

“If you are not setting a trap, then you are probably walking into one. It is the mark of the master to do both at once.”
― Jedediah BerryThe Manual of Detection

So at last you’re getting closer. Soon you’ll come to a slick, dark, dead end. You will try to see only what you need to. You don’t confront your fears, they skitter around behind you, detritus from the gutter. You’ll see the light that gleams on puckered windows and damp brickwork, but you won’t fear dark corners. You’ll see how the walls box in the picture and frame the world. You’ll see the men taking out the garbage, and yes, they’ll see you too.

Follow your instincts, lest they leave you behind.
