the water is quieter this year
Jhascrapmom
It is the simplicity of the quiet that appeals. The snow a winter muffler damping down all sounds of life. No water lapping at the frozen edge, just a diurnal melting at the boundary of solid and liquid states.
Pallid shadows coaxed by a waxen sun.
Skeletal remains of last year’s growth.
A lone track across the desert of snow.
The water is quieter this year, but the joyful sound of spring rejuvenation lies in wait for winter’s corner to turn another season.
