A Book Said Dream and I Do

They could be birds, these high-flung books. Some of them are pretty, some plain. Some fly fast and high and journey great distances, others never go further than the nearest hedgerow. Most are fairly harmless, though some are scavengers — and some could be considered predatory. Some belong in a Hitchcock film.

There’s a lesson to be learned there. Never underestimate these birds. Never turn your back on them. Some of them bite.
