They run and jump across the sand. Right now as you reach for your camera there are no other thoughts on their minds.
All they can hear is a chime of their own laughter across the bay. All they can see is brightness, sunshine, reflections on water.
All they want is to be there, that moment at the shoreline when the sand meets the sea and they can jump and splash and laugh some more.
They don’t even notice when you take the shot. They don’t much bother when show them it later. But you don’t mind. You’ll cherish the shot with the passing of time, as they move towards adulthood. Then one day when they are almost all grown someone will say “do you remember that summer…?” and you’ll dig out that shot and they’ll be back there again, sea urchins chasing the tide.
