On the beach
Tom_Patrick

Is the beach the end of land? Or the beginning of water? Is the horizon the beginning of sky? Or the end of earth? There are no clear lines of demarcation — none at all — not when you’re young and it’s summer and you are barefooted in the sand.

It’s enough to BE on the beach and SEE the horizon and watch the waves come in and watch the sun go down. It’s enough to sink your feet in the hot dry sand and in the cool wet sand.

When you’re young and it’s summer and you are barefooted in the sand, you ARE the intersection of land and water, of sky and earth. The waves come in for you, and the sun sets for you. The beach exists for you. And you are not separate from the sky and the earth and the water and the sand.
