The other side is the sea

On the other side is the sea.

Well, actually no. The Connecticut coast faces south, so on the other side is the Long Island Sound. The Sound may look like a sea, but it’s not.

On the other side of the Sound is Long Island itself, which is a perfectly fine island, but it’s not the sea. On the other side of Long Island is the Atlantic Ocean–also not a sea. Still, if you keep going south in a straight line, on the other side of this bit of the Atlantic is the island of Hispaniola. Also a very fine island, and a favorite stop for pirates in the 17th century.

And on the other side of Hispaniola is…hey bingo…the sea. An actual sea. The Caribbean Sea. Which is an excellent sea, and well worth the wait.

Anyway, just follow the path. On the other side, eventually, is the sea. And so much more. On the other side is mystery and adventure. And pirates.
