Doctors will tell you that it’s healthier to take the stairs.

The latest thing is they’ll go on about GLUT4, that substance which stores calories from food in muscle cells rather than in body fat. If you take the stairs you’ll  increase your levels of GLUT4… I think. Anyhow take the stairs.

Your mother will remind you of that time when you were thirteen and you got stuck on your own in a hotel elevator, and no-body even noticed that you were missing, and she happened to be in the lobby when the staff crowbarred the doors apart, and out you stepped, looking even more bored and angry than your usual thirteen year old self. So take the stairs.

Your friends will talk about that time they got stuck with the cute red head from accounting, or the janitor who tried to comfort them, or a guy who looks and dresses like a young Antony Perkins and turned out to be just as weird as you’d expect him to be. He hummed.

But there are of course exceptions, and this would be one of them.
