Insomnia #41

This is insomnia.

Take a long look at the day rushing by in a haze of colours and a stomach-churning wrenches as the lack of sleep hits you again and again. Waves of tiredness lapping at you, taunting you now, but leaving you later to lie alone and awake in your bed.

Think about making sense of a day that is like this – a blur of motion, each second passing too fast, though it can’t be soon enough for night to come and bring you the chance of rest. You want to grab onto each second and slow it down, buy yourself time to make sense of it.  You want it to end but you know that when you go to bed tonight your mind will still rush, your thoughts hurry by, each one a gentle nudge into wakefulness.

You know that one of these nights you might finally sleep again like you used to, but this is insomnia #41 of many sleepless nights to come.
