It was apparently a Tom Waits quote. He is admittedly a man who one might not consider an expert on all things pertaining to modern etiquette; it was nonetheless he who chose to state. “A gentleman is someone who can play the accordion, but doesn’t.”

Yet if one feels absolutely compelled to play the accordion, and there is not a willing audience, nor an empty desert, nor an endless forest within easy distance; then there has to be both grace and wisdom in wearing a cow mask to perform. Or is it a bull? Anyhow I think the mask was a good idea, and I suspect that Tom Waits would agree.
