tuesday night
Wandering into a pool of winter evening light, she doesn’t even notice you are there. You could be anyone, from a kind father waiting to pick up his little boy from after school karate club, to a malevolent spirit from this world or another, hiding behind a concrete pillar ready to pounce.
She is oblivious as she steps into the light, impervious to the charms of the smiling glass doors to her right. Ignorant of the camera to her left as she shifts the weight of her backpack on her shoulders, then takes a sip of her coffee while glancing down at her phone. Smiling at a message from a friend that distracts her long enough that she will never know how centre-stage she is in this monochrome composition of a stolen moment in her life.
