Nikita Payusov

Accordion Player at Bethesda Arcade

What is she thinking as she gazes upwards – is she playing by rote or lost in a world of improvisation.

Is she alone with her thoughts or does an audience stand out of shot.

Is the open suitcase covered with a litter of coins and notes that she has to scoop up and pocket every now and then or is it empty.

Is it a slow day where people skirt around her, not making eye contact as they hurry guiltily away. Or a good day when children stand and watch with a fistful of coins ready to throw her way.

How long will she stand here. How much will she make.

Does she even like the accordion music.
