I should have asked his name

A stranger in Rome.

I should have asked him name. Should have paid attention to the badge on the lapel of his cardigan.

But there was no time because he had that look on his face. And I knew that as soon as I stopped and spoke to him it would fade. Inquisitive and unconcerned, friendly and wary. The contradictory emotions that flash through our minds with every new interaction – that was the moment I wanted to capture.

I should have asked his name, but instead I stole a shot and hurried away with my anonymous prize.
