House Clearance
Was there ever a child who warned their dollhouse what was coming? “There’s going to come a day when we don’t play anymore, so lets have fun together while we can, let us gather the rosebuds while we may.” Of course not; because small children live in their tornado moments of time, and never want to worry themselves with future troubles.
An older child will stroke fresh paint on to the walls of their first home, and scrub at the splinters of tatty floorboards. Already they know that freedom is knotted to responsibility and that all this could slip through their fingers, a time will come to fret about the rent, the bills, disconnection and eviction. Their fingers will worry away at the fabric of the household unravelling a series of imagined disasters. Nothing lasts for ever, so save the tears and gather the rosebuds.
