Channelling Andre Kertész

My dearest darling, I know you’ve cooked me a special meal. There will be champagne, and pasta with truffle sauce. Yes, yes, the pasta can’t wait, I understand that. The soufflé starter risks collapse – it might sink until it becomes just eggs and milk with a hint of goat’s cheese. We need to get moving, you need to get serving. The table must be laid, we’re in a hurry. The flowers are wilting on the kitchen countertop.

Be patient, I’ve started.

I’ve put out a vase for the flowers. I pulled out the cutlery, and a fork fell out of my hand. The knives and spoons are scattered on the floor in my rush to grab the camera.

I know you’ve cooked us a special meal, so I’ll work as fast as I can. But you see the light is just right, and I’m channelling Andre Kertész so I’m afraid dinner will have to wait.
