Look at the faces behind the glass door. Click through, look as closely as you can. Every single expression is different; querulous, curious, judgemental, thoughtful, inspired, wary and freaky. Some of those looks are unreadable. I’m gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that if those were boys looking at a barely clothed female dancer, you would not see such a range of facial expressions.

At an arts high school a seventeen year old boy claims that the life models poses are too sexual, “like when she squatted”. Another student shuts him down, squatting is for shitting and childbirth. “Consider that perhaps you think that way because you’ve been conditioned to believe that the female body is for male pleasure. If a fit, young, male, model squats you don’t think of it as a sexual pose.”
