The Odd One Out

We are the early risers. Not as tenacious as those bitsy snowdrops, but bright, breezy and reliable. You can count on us. Our little faces are the ones your great-grandparents knew in their childhood, and every spring we return. Winter has been bleak, chaotic, and at times downright appalling, and yet when it is done you can trust us to break through. To be fair humans with our qualities are goddamn annoying in their smug determination; but when it comes to spring flowers you feel more than a grudging admiration. You love us all, and so you should.
