In her blog* Therese writes:

“There are still too many people who don’t believe climate change is real, who don’t believe the scientists, or simply have other interests that make them not care.  It’s numbing. So I do the best I can.  And tending to my garden is one of the things that feels proactive and healing overall.”

There are still too many people who don’t believe climate change is real.

She is absolutely right, of course. You might count some of those non-believers as your best friends. But seriously?  While Europe scorches and burns and we are issued a code red warning by the IPCC. Don’t believe?

It is a matter of fact, the truth is indisputable. Belief is out of date. But if you know the truth, Therese is right, it’s too much. It’s numbing. So what do you do to stay positive?

Get angry, by all means, and be active. Make your voice heard. Hold our governments to account and don’t let corporations off the hook.

But changing the world is not trivial work. It’s tiring, and thankless and sometimes can take you to the edge of despair. So while you go changing the world, bit by bit, take some time for yourself.  Take as many moments as you need to tend to the Echinacea and make plans for your garden of the future.  nd take time to sit in your garden, listen to the birds, enjoy the blooms as they blossom and fade.
