Le Petit Chien

See this guy waiting, it makes the world look so cruel. Maybe he waited by the same door yesterday, perhaps tomorrow he will wait again, and almost inevitably the right human will reconnect with him soon. Have you heard of Hachiko the Akita dog who waited for his master at Shibuya station in Tokyo, even after his owner’s death? Do you know the tale of Greyfrairs Bobby the Skye terrier who mourned for fourteen years at his owners grave? I am pretty sure they both got commemorative statues for their loyalty and yet I suspect that dogs are as stoic as they are loyal, they have forgotten waiting yesterday, they don’t worry that they will have to wait tomorrow. They live in the moment. Waiting like good boys.
