Koshy’s doughnut

It’s the little things, they said, and for once they weren’t lying.

String them together, all the little things, and they make a life. The sudden warmth of the sun when it comes out from behind the clouds. The sound of a soft rain falling on the glass top of a patio table. The smell of buttered toast. A friend resting their hand on your shoulder, just for a moment. The surprise of a full moon. The first bite of a donut.

String them together, all the little things, just a few each day Do that every day. You won’t remember them, not individually, but you’ll have a sweet life infused by the warmth of the sun and the sound of rain and the smell of buttered toast and hands of friends and full moons and the first bites of donuts.

They add up, all the little things.
