Konica-Minolta Dimage z20: Affectionately known as my 'PoS' (piece of...). Accessories include wide-angle attachment, neutral density filter, polarizing filter and all photos are augmented to some degree with Photoshop CS2.

Nikon D50 & Nikon D70 w/18-55mm & 55-200mm Nikkor zoom lenses whenever I can borrow them until I'm able to buy my Nikon D80 Pentax K10D (or K20D if the stars align correctly)

About me:

Ever since childhood I've had an artistic side that demanded expression. At an early age, as far back as I can remember, I had a natural talent for drawing and I used it religiously throughout my childhood. I developed a bit of a reputation as the kid that could draw anything and took a lot of pride in the distinction.

As will happen with young people, I became distracted by other things as I grew into adolescence. As the years passed girls, sports, friends, music, hanging out and video games competed for and won most of my attention and my chops as a sketch artist slowly fell to the wayside. As an adult I've been amazed at how much of that skill I seem to have lost. I've found that shape, size and dexterity of my hands have changed dramatically. Wasted talent.

Over the years I've become a sort of jack-of-all-trades, picking up a variety of new skills here there, going through various phases of interests and manias. As my profile indicates, I've dabbled in several things from athletics, music and writing to several other miscellaneous, short-lived obsessions with some degree of success in each. As a result I've become competent, though not masterful, in what I think is an impressive array of activities and disciplines. But truthfully, everything I've done in this regard represents a vain attempt to replace my true calling, the talent I wasted years ago.

Two years ago that meandering journey led me to try my hand at photography. It seemed a logical option considering my particular tendencies -- I was always the one to put extra effort into family snapshots, much to the annoyance of my subjects. Since that time it has become the perfect marriage for me, combining my long-dormant artistic sensibilities with my fascination with technology. The use of digital media only enhances this effect, giving me the opportunity to use many of the same skills and instincts that used to drive my drawing.

I cannot honestly say I have any distinct photographic style or that I subscribe to any particular genre or school of thought. I didn't go to art school. I am content to simply shoot my way through all that and see where my instincts can take me. There is definitely a place for study and theory and I do from time to time take classes and read books for guidance. But I've found that the best way to learn anything is simply by doing it. So that for the most part will be my M.O.

I'm always looking for ways to improve so constructive criticism is always welcome.
