Bio

I am mostly self-taught. After I realized that I could happily think about photography 24/7, I changed my course of study at Stanford from biology to art photo. Last year I was given a materials grant to begin my work in the Central Valley of California, and an arts grant to continue and display my portraits of KZSU DJs and radio station interiors.

I am interested in photos that are more documentary in nature rather than purely expressive or creative. I am fascinated by pico projectors, touch interfaces and other new technology that might transform the way we photograph. I feel that my calling is to eventually develop my skills to address issues of social and environmental justice, not in the traditional mode of photojournalism, but in a way that focuses on solutions and displays the awesomeness of what we've built as well as the negative aspects. I'm not sure that my works reflects this. Yet.

I live in San Francisco and I'm interested in meeting other photographers who might want to trade prints. Elsewhere online, I use my blog Shooting Wide Open as a scrapbook of mine and other photographers' work.
