Michelle Jephcott

Bio

Michelle first picked up a camera as a child in imitation of her dad who had a lovely old 35 mm Olympus. After playing with a series of 110 and 35 mm cameras, she moved into the digital age in 2001, getting an Olympus of her own.

She shoots with a combination of film and digital cameras, documenting the world around her as she sees it - or maybe as she wishes it to be seen. As a result, her work is a rather heterogeneous collection of photographs encompassing everything from family portraits to long exposure waterfall studies and sweeping landscapes to flower macros.

Canadian-born Michelle Jephcott grew up in Germany and now makes her home in East Tennessee where she has won several regional juried photography competitions including Best of Show at the Tennessee Valley Fair, the result of which is an invitation to join the jury panel for the 2008 competition. Her gritty Urban Explorations series is currently on exhibit at Galaxy Art in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Testimonial

Michelle's an awesome photographer, great story-teller, loves life and a great friend. Plus, I am guessing here, she's mischevious as hell. Her daughter's face reflects that.
