Islandman Ghost

John Baucher

I just love the expression of this.
These are Keel Wedges used in a dry dock. When the boat or ship has been manoevred into position, the water is drained out and the boat comes to rest on a series of these. They are a mixture of metal and wood and their 'faces' are so weathered, i just had to capture them.
The area these are located in used to be an industrial and shipping hub of Belfast and is now a business park. The faces reminded me of the former workers of the area.
Islandmen is the name given to the workers of Queens Island
I exhibited a series of 36 hand printed B&W's of these in Belfast and Auckland New Zealand.
