door bell on 48th

This is the door bell on my house. It came originally form a house on the 4200 block of Chestnut St where I lived with a bunch of English grad majors from Penn in 1976. Our landlord was replacing the bell and the workman was going to toss this lovely piece. I carried it from apartment to apartment until we bought this house and restored it to its former function. The design is similar to the design of our door knob set. Probably there was once one like it here.
