Gullivers Chair

John Baucher

In Gullivers Travels (which me and maah boy are reading at the mo) our eponymous hero gets washed ashore in Lilliput after his ship is shipwrecked.
Lilliput and Belfescu their neighbouring country, are at war over............eggs. More specifically at which end to open them. The current emperor 's grandfather cut his hand as a boy when breaking open an egg at the big end leading his father to order that Lilliputians should open their eggs at the smaller end.
Many of the population weren't happy about this, big-endian books were banned and big-endians were also unable to get work. The emperor of Belfescu even went as far as to suggest that this dictate went against the great Prophet Lustrog who stated in the Brundrecal, their holy book, that
"all true believers shall break their eggs at the convenient end".
Obviously the Belfuscudian emperor (and the other big-endians) believed this to be the large end.

I've been enjoying myself with these eggs as part of utata iron photographer and it has been fun and i think it subconciously has influenced a few of the shots. I gotta say that reading Gullivers Travels has been an unexpected joy. It is quite surreal in a fantastical way and also a lil bit silly. The copy we have is beautifully illustrated. The other thing to note is that his Lilliputian adventure is just one of his travels it gets better if anything.

Just saying.......
