a very pretty stereotype

Meera Sethi

Somehow on this trip I found it in me to take a few of those photos of Singapore I thought I'd never take, the ones that seem to turn its character into something charmingly foreign.

I actually enjoy this photo a great deal; it just doesn't say all that much about the Singapore I grew up in or how I felt about it when I was there. It's full of lovely details I didn't pay the slightest attention to as a kid or a teenager, and makes me feel like I'm participating in an odd tourist campaign.
