Conch Horn

Jeremy Sloan

This conch shell has been in my family for four generations. My great grandfather made it into a horn by cutting it parallel to the spiral -- which you can see in the photo. When blown, it makes an incredibly loud, rich sound. Over the past decades it's been a mantelpiece decoration, a coffee table decoration, a bookend, a doorstop, a show-and-tell item, a toy and, most recently, part of an Iron Photographer submission.
