A hot cross bun recipe landed in my mailbox last week, from Betty Bossi who is not a person but a company, the Swiss equivalent of Betty Crocker. Last year I had a lot of misses with hcb recipes and found that Jamie Oliver's was the best. However, as I had all the ingredients I decided to try out this one, and to my surprise it worked out very well, even though it omitted an essential ingredient which was the spices.
Here is a work in progress which fits the utata iron photographer challenge 317:
1. Something crushed (coarse salt in the mortar)
2. An uncooked meal (or part of it) (breakfast)
3. Some very saturated colour

Hot cross buns were always our Good Friday breakfast. My mother also had problems finding the right recipe and was never happy.
