Beware all enterprises that require new clothes

Liz West

I hate getting rid of clothes that I like. I wear things until they are shredded. I still own my original Levi jeans jacket, the one with the zinc buttons, that I bought right before high school. I still own my mother's Woolrich hunting jacket, the one with the pocket in the back for the dead rabbit, that she bought before I was born. Some clothes, like this T-shirt, have actually been retired. It's too small to fit me now, but too beloved to give away, except perhaps to one of my kids. The jeans and shoes, however, are evergreens. I'll keep using them.
