tinkering

Rachel Irving

Winter months are my time for fixing things. spring is too precious to be wasted on Spring Cleaning. I wished I hadn’t already had a whole winter to fix, mend, plaster, sand, strip, tinker, clean, and organise. In isolation I have sewed face masks and each one is totally different, because it wouldn’t break the boredom to churn out an identical string of them. We have baked, we always baked cakes, cookies, bread and pies but now we know how to bake Montreal bagels. Getting rid of the buzz on the turntable took three of us. J’s research, my tool skills, Alice’s youthful eyesight. Listening to records again was glorious.
