HRM's hermit's lodge's entrance - Het Loo

Henk van der Eijk

The bigger view helps to see what the lodge is made out of.

The entrance of the lodge is adorned with a crown, under which the letter 'W'. Where that 'W' probaly refers to one of our Kings Willem in the 19th century (most likely Willem I), or to some Stadtholders in the 17th and 18th centuries, it could also refer to the founding father of our Royal family: Willem van Oranje ('W. of Orange' -Orange in southern France, mind you) from the sixteenth century. Or to Queen Wilhelmina and even to out future King, Willem Alexander.

addition: this lodge is already mentioned in the year 1794, it was called Willemstempel, the one who would become the first King Willem in 1815.

For the weekend project 'Utata looks in'.
